KUGR.org Cougar College Radio

Mission Statement

"To provide students the opportunity to gain hands on experience in the radio broadcast industry. In addition to serving the general student body of WSU we provide informative and entertaining programming. KUGR.org is radio by students, for students."

History

KUGR started broadcasting as a student-run radio station more than 50 years ago. Its original purpose was to provide study music in the WSU dorms.
Famed broadcaster Keith Jackson is one of KUGR's most notable alumnus. Starting at KUGR in 1952, he gained experience broadcasting WSU football games. Later, he became the first play-by-play announcer for the NFL's "Monday Night Football" program.

Today there are numerous opportunities for students to get involved at KUGR. Any undergraduate student can host and produce shows, no experience is necessary. Students can also join the KUGR staff as a member of the board of directors, or work with the sports department to broadcast sporting events and broadcast live sports updates.
Our student-produced shows span an eclectic range of genres and topics in music, talk, and sports. Top of the hour news updates keep listeners updated on Pullman's latest happenings.
