Application for Graduate Student Travel

Application for Professional Student Travel

The GPSA has implemented a new application process for both Graduate and Professional Travel and Registration grants. Here is what you need to know for the Summer application :

  1. Applications will become available towards the end of each semester.
    1. The Summer 2014 grant application will open September 1st and close at midnight on September 12th.
    2. The travel and registration grant will cover dates traveled from March 31st-September 12th.
    3. A message will be sent through CougSync once the application is opened. Please join us on CougSync to receive all updates regarding Summer, 2014 grants.
  2. Students will apply for travel that they have already completed.
    1. Example. If a student’s travel takes place from October 7-12, they would apply at the end of Fall Semester for a Fall travel or registration grant.
    2. Applications will need to include all travel receipts, registration costs, and reasons for travel.
      1. When traveling, keep all receipts and relevant information regarding your travel.
  3. Students will not be able to apply for a travel or registration grant before they travel.
    1. Take note: Students will not be guaranteed reimbursement.
      1. All students must fund their travel before applying for a grant.
      2. GPSA will not grant funding, nor will GPSA offer funding to any student before they have completed an application for travel they have already completed.
  4. All reimbursements will be allocated by the GPSA Grant committees and students that apply are not guaranteed funding from GPSA.
  5. Applications will require an advisor’s approval. If your advisor does not approve your application before the deadline, the application will be viewed as incomplete.
    1. *GPSA will notify advisors that they have an application for review; however, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that their advisor has completed this by the application deadline. There will be no exceptions made for incomplete applications after the application deadline.
  6. What students can be reimbursed for by the GPSA Travel and Registration grant committees:
    1. (Note: No student is guaranteed reimbursement, nor is a student guaranteed a reimbursement for the entirety of their requested amount):
      1. All travel expenses including airfare, mileage costs, shuttle costs, etc.
        1. In the application you must provide detailed information stating how this was the most cost effective way for you to travel and that you are seeking reimbursement solely for the travel you applied for.
      2. Registration fees

Graduate Students (M.S., M.A., Ph.D. only)

The GPSA Graduate Student Travel Grant funds are intended to help Graduate Students in their research and scholarly activities. They are available to present papers at significant meetings and extraordinary training opportunities away from the University campus. The travel grant may be used to defray transportation costs, but will not include lodging or food costs. Due to the limited amount of available funds, rarely will 100% of a request be funded.

The maximum amount of a request cannot exceed the cost of a round trip coach airline ticket to the proposed destination, and awards are typically on the order of 50% to 90% of that amount.

*Please keep in mind that if you are awarded from this program, your funds will be disbursed as a reimbursement (not cash up-front).

Eligibility:

  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • Full-time (10-18 credit hours), regularly enrolled  in a graduate level degree program
  • WSU-Pullman Graduate Student
