CougSync is the new student organizations management system at WSU. The new system is equipped with lots of tools, including a dynamic calendar, enhanced communication, e-portfolio, as well as direct user interface with Facebook.
The Office of Student Involvement is here to help students get involved with student organizations, please do not hesitate to contact us for any organizational support, including organization registration, event planning, event registration, and funding opportunities, just to name a few.
Renewing Your Organization
Below are the requirements/steps that need to be completed for Registered Student Organizations to renew their organization (i.e. groups that have already created an organization on CougSync), or to start a new organization for the upcoming school year.
Step One: Complete the Training. Four group members must complete/pass the RSO Officer Quiz. Click here to take the quiz. Quiz takers will need to sign in using the WSU ID and password and then read the attached document before taking the quiz. The members who take this quiz must also be members on your CougSync page (i.e. listed under the "People" tab of the CougSync page). To watch a short video on how to complete the training, click here.
Step Two: Advisor Approval. Your advisor must fill out the Advisor Agreement form to be considered your active advisor. The form can be found by clicking here. This form is different from the signature card that the advisor has to sign if your RSO has a financial account. To sign the signature card, visit the Cougar Card Center in the CUB (CUB 60).
Note: In order to be eligible to serve as an advisor a person must be a salaried employee of WSU. Workers compensated with an hourly wage, and undergraduate employees are not eligible to serve as advisors. The following categories of employees are eligible to serve as advisors: Graduate student with a teaching, research, or graduate assistantship, Faculty, or Staff
Once steps 1 and 2 above are complete, contact the Student Involvement Advisor who corresponds with the name of your RSO group:
Step Three: CougSync Page Updates. These updates include:
- Profile: Complete the profile update by logging onto your group's page and clicking on the blue bar at the top of the screen. This will allow you to update your group's information. You must be an administrator in the group to do this.
- Constitution: Upload any updates or changes to the constitution. There are sample constitutions available on CougSync in the Files section under the Organization Resources folder. Click here for the template. It should at a minimum define group organization, roles and purpose, membership requirements, officer duties, and due rates.
- Membership: Four currently enrolled students need to join your group’s CougSync page online. Click on the "People" tab on your page to update your group’s membership (e.g. update administrators, add new members, move old members to the alumni category)
CougSync Login Change
The CougSync login screen has a new look! For your convenience, WSU has changed how you login to CougSync (OrgSync). You will now login with your WSU Network ID and password to access your CougSync account. This is to minimize the number of usernames and passwords that you must remember, and help streamline all your WSU-related logins.
Importing Your Account
Need help logging in to the new CougSync login page? For your convenience, WSU has changed how you login to CougSync. You will now login with your WSU Network ID and password. This is to minimize the number of usernames and passwords that you must remember, and help streamline all your WSU-related logins.
If you log in to CougSync.wsu.edu with your WSU Network ID and your CougSync profile does not have all of your information, you may need to import your account.
First, make sure you are logged in with your WSU Network ID and password (not your internet email address, for example Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.). This is very important to insure that your account is successfully imported.
Step 1. Mouse over the gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 2. Click “Manage Account”.
Step 3. Click “Import from Another Account”.
Step 4. Enter the username and password for the account you wish to import. This is most likely your non-WSU email account, for example Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.
If this did not work for you, or if you believe you have a different problem, contact Jason Stucki at (509) 335-7317.
EVENT REGISTRATION CHANGE: NEWLY LINKED TO CALENDAR REQUESTS
CougSync has recently undergone an upgrade with the calendaring system which now allows event registration within a calendar request. All events happening on campus will need to be submitted on your organization’s calendar, as the form "Event Registration" is disabled. Please remember to go to scheduling.wsu.edu first to reserve your space before registering the event.
